Connect an AI assistant to Blocksify

Blocksify AI assistant access lets a connected assistant discover blocks, check its work, preview layouts, and create or edit WordPress pages. The connection uses the WordPress Abilities API and an application password tied to a WordPress user. Blocksify supplies the abilities and connection details, but it does not include an AI client or an MCP server.

Before you start: Blocksify supports WordPress 6.8+, but the WordPress Abilities API used by AI assistants arrived in WordPress 6.9. The AI connection therefore requires WordPress 6.9 or newer; see the Blocksify requirements. Use HTTPS, a user with only the necessary permissions, and a client that can connect to the WordPress Abilities API.

Create an application password

An application password lets the assistant authenticate without using the user’s normal WordPress password. Blocksify creates one named Blocksify AI access for the signed-in account.

  1. Go to Blocksify → Dashboard → Settings.
  2. Select the AI panel. The access card shows the site’s endpoints, authentication controls, commands, and published abilities.
  3. Confirm that the card does not show the warning that this site cannot serve the abilities. If it does, update WordPress to version 6.9 or newer before continuing.
  4. Click Create an application password. The card shows the new password once in plain text and inserts its unspaced form into the command example.
  5. Click Copy password immediately and store it securely. WordPress will not display it again after you leave or reload the page.
The AI card shows a newly created application password in plain text with the Copy password button and the same password in the command example.

Warning: Treat the application password like any other login credential. Never share a live value in page content, support messages, screenshots, or notes that other users can read.

Copy the connection details

The Endpoints area shows the address used to discover abilities and the address pattern used to run one. The Call an ability area provides copy-ready examples.

  1. Go to Blocksify → Dashboard → Settings → AI.
  2. Under Endpoints, click Copy beside the ability-list address.
  3. Open Discover under Call an ability. Its command uses the current username and the application password created in this browser session.
  4. Click Copy command. Use it as a reference if your client accepts command-based tools.
  5. Open Read and Write to see how read-only and content-changing requests differ.
The AI card shows the Discover command under Call an ability with the Copy command button.

Add the endpoint, WordPress username, and application password where your AI client asks for an authenticated WordPress Abilities API connection. Client screens differ, so follow that client’s instructions and store the password only in its secure credential field, not in a shared configuration file.

The assistant can only perform actions allowed for the user behind the application password. Choose the smallest role that covers the work:

  • Contributor: Discover blocks, check and preview content, and create drafts.
  • Author: Also publish their own content and use media.
  • Editor: Also work with other users’ pages and posts.
  • Administrator: Also manage reusable Style Classes.
  • Discover Blocksify blocks and shared design values.
  • Check markup and preview it without saving.
  • Create or edit pages and posts.
  • Browse media images and Blocksify icons, and import supported images when the user has media permission.

Try a safe first request

Begin with a draft and ask the assistant to check and preview its work before it creates anything. This follows the safer flow in Create your first page with Blocksify.

  1. Open your connected AI client and ask: “List the Blocksify blocks available on this site, then suggest a simple landing-page outline.”
  2. Ask: “Build the outline with Blocksify blocks, check the page markup, and preview it without saving.”
  3. After reviewing the plan, ask: “Create the page as a draft named Services. Do not publish it.”
  4. Open the new draft from your site’s page list in wp-admin.
  5. Review the structure, copy, links, and images before publishing it.
The WordPress Pages list shows the Services page as a draft with edit and preview actions.

Other useful requests include “Find suitable images already in the media library” and “Show me the available icons before choosing one.” The editor tour helps you review the resulting Blocksify controls by hand.

Disconnect the assistant

Revoking the application password cuts off that connection immediately without changing the user’s normal WordPress password.

  1. Go to Users → Profile → Application Passwords.
  2. Find Blocksify AI access in the application-password list.
  3. Use its revoke action. Requests using that credential can no longer authenticate.
The Application Passwords list shows Blocksify AI access with its Revoke button.

The Offer these abilities to MCP clients setting is separate. It is off by default and only affects a different plugin that provides an MCP server; direct WordPress Abilities API access does not require it.
