Loop Filter overview

Blocksify Pro Loop Filter lets visitors narrow a Content Loop with filters such as categories, dates, custom fields, and product details.

What is a Loop Filter?

A Loop Filter is a separate block that controls one Content Loop on the same page. Select the loop in Target Loop, then add facets such as Property type, City, Price band, or a Bedrooms range.

The page editor shows a Loop Filter sidebar with Property type, City and Price band facets beside a three-card property grid.

A facet is one filter control inside the Loop Filter. It connects a choice, range, or date control to information used by the loop’s posts or products.

What you can insertWhen to use it
Loop FilterBuild a filter panel with several facets for a listing, directory, blog, or shop.
Loop Search BarAdd keyword search with optional compact facets, either beside a loop or linked to a listing page.
Loop ToolbarPlace result totals, sorting, and active-filter choices above or below a loop.

How does Loop Filter work?

The Target Loop setting lists each Content Loop by its post type, layout, and block ID. Once you choose the intended entry, the facet choices come from the types of content and fields that loop can display.

The Target Loop setting shows a Content Loop entry labelled with posts as its post type, grid as its layout, and a block ID.

Try it in two minutes

  1. Open the page that contains your Content Loop.
  2. Insert a Loop Filter block.
  3. Select it and confirm the intended loop under Target Loop.
  4. Click Add facet and choose one field.
  5. Publish or update the page, then test the filter.

For the complete walkthrough, follow Add your first Loop Filter.

Apply mode offers two choices.

  • Instant refreshes results when a visitor changes a value.
  • Apply button lets visitors make several choices and submit them together.

Each change updates the URL, resets the loop to its first results page, and lets browser Back and Forward restore earlier views.

If JavaScript is unavailable, the filter remains a standard form. Visitors choose values and submit the form, and the full page reloads with the matching results.

Where do result counts come from?

Blocksify keeps a results index for facet fields. It supplies the number beside each choice and refreshes counts as other facets narrow the Content Loop.

The Property type facet shows seven button choices with indexed counts, including Apartment 11, House 9, Loft 4 and Villa 4.

In this listing, the rebuilt index reports 11 Apartment results, 9 House results, and 4 Villa results. These counts come from the indexed results of the selected Content Loop, so they can differ from WordPress’s global taxonomy term counts.

Counts appear only when index information is available; choices can still appear without them. Learn how choices are represented in Filter URLs, shareable links and the results index, and use Manage the Loop Filter index when counts need rebuilding.

Why use Loop Filter?

Help visitors narrow a long listing

Facets let a visitor find apartments in one city and price band without searching through every property card.

Show useful choices as the result set changes

Counts give feedback before a choice. Empty choices can remain unavailable or be removed with Hide empty.

Make filtered views easy to return to

A visitor can bookmark or share the URL. Opening it restores the same filters and results.

Requirements

Note: A Loop Filter needs a Content Loop on the same page. Facets for price, sale status, stock, rating, and product attributes also need WooCommerce.

Start with Add your first Loop Filter, then use Facet types and fields to choose what visitors can filter.
