Facet types and fields

Blocksify Pro facets connect each Loop Filter control to a taxonomy, post detail, custom field, or WooCommerce product value.

Start with the Loop Filter overview for how facets narrow a Content Loop. Choices follow the Target Loop, so a Properties loop can offer different fields from a blog-post loop.

Where to find facet fields

  1. Select the Loop Filter block and choose its Target Loop. Each Content Loop entry is labelled with its post type, layout, and block ID, and the available fields update for the selected entry.
  2. In Settings, find Facets and click Add facet. The menu groups taxonomies, post fields, and supported custom fields under headings.
  3. Select a row to add it. For a field key entered by hand, choose Custom meta key…, then use the Field section in the facet popover.

Search and sort are configured elsewhere; they do not appear in Add facet. Each facet has Data, Display, and Styling tabs.

Taxonomy

Taxonomy is a heading above the public taxonomies registered for the post types in the Target Loop, not an expandable control. The Properties example lists Property Types, Cities, and Amenities; a posts loop commonly lists Categories and Tags.

The Add facet menu shows the Taxonomy heading above the Property Types, Cities, and Amenities rows.
SettingDescription
Taxonomy rowSelects the terms that become visitor choices. Remove the facet and add another row to change taxonomies.
MatchWith Checkboxes, Any matches at least one selected term; All requires every selected term.
DisplayUses List by default. Buttons and Dropdown are available; Swatches appears for supported visual product attributes.

Taxonomy choices use term names on the page and term values in the filtered URL. Use Facet displays: list, buttons, dropdown and swatches to choose their presentation.

Post fields

Post fields offers four details WordPress keeps for posts. These work without a custom-fields plugin.

The Add facet menu shows the Post fields heading above Author, Status, Post type, and Post date.
SettingDescription
AuthorShows authors as choices and filters the loop to content written by the selected people.
StatusShows the post statuses available to the loop. Public visitors normally see choices that can return public content.
Post typeShows post types as choices when the loop can contain more than one type.
Post dateShows From and To date fields for narrowing content by publication date. It does not show result counts.

Author, Status, and Post type use choice controls. Post date uses a date range, with Include time available when the filter needs date-and-time values.

Custom fields

Blocksify Pro discovers suitable fields described in the free Dynamic data fields reference from these supported plugins:

  • SCF or ACF
  • Meta Box
  • Pods
  • Toolset
  • JetEngine
The SCF / ACF fields group shows Year Built as a number, Open House as a date, and Listing Agent as a relationship field.

Add facet groups fields that belong to the Target Loop‘s post types. In this example, SCF / ACF fields contains Year Built · number, Open House · date, and Listing Agent · relationship, while Meta Box fields appear under their own heading.

SettingDescription
Choice fieldBecomes a list with Checkboxes or Radio (single), plus Any or All matching for checkboxes.
Boolean fieldBecomes an on-or-off control. Toggle label changes its text.
Number fieldBecomes a range. Set Min, Max, Step, and Decimals, then choose Input or Slider.
Date fieldDate and date-time picker fields become From and To controls. Include time starts on for a discovered date-time field.
Relationship fieldBecomes a choice list for supported ACF and Meta Box relationship fields. Those fields from other listed plugins do not appear as facets.

Time-only fields are not offered as date facets. See Supported field plugins: ACF/SCF, Meta Box, Pods and Toolset for setup and compatibility details.

Custom meta key

Choose Custom meta key… when the value is stored as post metadata but is not discovered under a named plugin group. In the Field section, the combobox lists keys found on the Target Loop‘s post type and also lets you enter a key manually.

The Field section shows a search for bedrooms, the matching ns_bedrooms key, and Number (range) selected for Kind.
SettingDescription
FieldSelects an existing key found on the target post type, or opens the manual entry choice.
Meta keyAppears for manual entry and accepts the exact key used when the value was saved, such as bedrooms.
Kind: ChoiceTreats stored text values as selectable options.
Kind: BooleanTreats the saved value as an on-or-off choice.
Kind: Number (range)Treats stored numbers as a minimum-to-maximum range. Date and relationship formats are not available for a key entered by hand.

Note: Use a discovered field when one is available. It gives Blocksify Pro enough information to choose the correct control and validate the saved values.

For a product loop, choose Custom meta key… and use the Field combobox to select WooCommerce — Price, WooCommerce — On sale, WooCommerce — Stock status, or WooCommerce — Rating. See Filter WooCommerce products before building those facets.
