Add your first Loop Filter

Blocksify Pro makes it quick to add a Loop Filter to a Content Loop and let visitors narrow a Properties listing by property type.

Before you start: Publish a Find a Property page with a Content Loop, then add Property type terms such as Apartment, House, and Villa to several properties. If needed, follow Create your first page with Blocksify first.

Insert the Loop Filter and choose its target

  1. Go to Pages → All Pages and open the published Find a Property page. The page opens in the block editor.
  2. Click the + block inserter, search for Loop Filter, and click the result. A Loop Filter appears with a Property type facet on the page.
The block inserter shows Loop Filter in the Blocksify results beside the Find a Property canvas, where the new block already displays a Property type facet.
  1. Select the Loop Filter block and open Settings in the right sidebar. The block settings become visible.
  2. Open Target Loop and select the Content Loop entry labelled with the intended post type, layout, and block ID. The Loop Filter preview identifies the selected loop.
The Loop Filter settings show a Connected status and a Target Loop control identifying the property grid by its layout and block ID.

If the page contains one Content Loop, Blocksify Pro may select it automatically. Confirm the choice before adding facets.

Add a Property type facet

  1. Select the Loop Filter block and open Settings. Under Facets, click Add facet. A searchable menu for the Properties loop opens.
  2. Under the Taxonomy heading, select Property Types. A Property type row appears under Facets and its settings popover opens.
  3. Open Display, set Control to Checkboxes, and set Display to List. The preview accepts more than one property type.
The Property type facet Display tab shows Checkboxes selected for Control and List selected for Display.
  1. Leave Show counts on. Counts will appear beside Apartment, House, and Villa after the page is saved and the results index is ready.
  2. Close the popover. The Facets list now contains Property type.

Choose how visitors apply filters

  1. Select the Loop Filter block and open Settings. The main Loop Filter controls appear.
  2. Open Apply mode. Its two choices are Instant and Apply button.
  3. Select Instant. Choosing Apartment, House, or Loft will refresh the property results without a separate button.
  1. Choose Apply button instead when visitors should make several choices before refreshing the listing. An Apply button appears in the filter.

Tip: Use Instant for one or two quick facets. Use Apply button when the filter has several facets or sits inside a drawer.

Publish and test the filter

  1. Click Save or Update. WordPress saves the Loop Filter and its connection to the Properties loop.
  2. Click View Page. Find a Property opens with the filter sidebar on the left and the Search Bar, Loop Toolbar, and property grid on the right.
  3. Select Loft. With Instant selected, the cards refresh immediately; with Apply button selected, click Apply to refresh them.
The Find a Property page shows the Loop Filter sidebar on the left with Loft selected and a toolbar and row of matching Loft cards on the right.
  1. Check the address bar. A filter value now appears in the URL, so copying the address preserves the Loft view.
  2. Click the browser Back button. The earlier URL, facet selection, and property results return together.
  3. Clear the selection or click Reset. All property types appear again.

If a term has no expected results, confirm that published Properties use it. See Facet types and fields and Facet displays: list, buttons, dropdown and swatches.
